love the new trend: hidden wedge sneakers

I am normally not a sneaker person at all: looking into my closet I only have 3 pairs. I am really surprised at myself that I am now so crazy over these Isabel Marant hidden wedge sneakers - the brand that started this whole trend about two seasons ago. When I first saw pictures of Kate Bosworth last year, I thought that these are not my type at all. But now I would nearly do anything just to get these shoes asap. They are constantly sold out everywhere the minute they are popping up in any online store. And I haven't seen a retail shop in Vienna yet that carries them so far. The hype has really been growing strong also among models and celebs who wear these sneakers off duty all the time. Guess they don't have to wait that long to get them. I have to confess that by now I even love the multicolor bulky ones, seen on Miranda Kerr or Alicia Keys. I am so curious how they will fit on me who is shorter and not skinny. I have put myself on the wait list at Inked who will get them for fall 2012.

Here is a picture of the sneak preview of IM shoes for AW2012 (found it on http://marantphiles.com/):

A short guide of the different sneaker types, in case you are also in search:
  • Willows (former Becketts): second row, the bulkier and higher wedge sneakers - comes in uni or multi colorways
  • Bobby: last row, wedge is not so high as the Willow, all suede
  • Betty: last row, like the Bobby but are a combination of suede and leather
And here are some amazing celeb pics - all wearing IM:

And ... what do you think? Like them or hate them?

OPI - Holland collection ♥♥♥ the blues

Finally I got my hands on the new OPI Holland collection here in Vienna last week. I especially love the blue shades. They are not bright blues but more on the neutral side. Here I am wearing the darker blue polish - I have a Herring problem - funny name. It is a grey warm blue with silver micro shimmer in it. I absolutely love it, so easy to apply. I am curious how much difference there is to the lighter one.

Today I am wearing ... fringe OC top

I think this Opening Ceremony top is a piece that stands out from my usual wardrobe. It is quirky and playful with its boxy short cut and fringes. When I saw it first, I really couldn't imagine what to wear it with. But having it now in my closet it is quiet easy to pair with. It goes with skinny or boyfriend denim or pants and even with skirts or over dresses, which is a bit more daring. It is also made of thicker fabric and I wear it as an alternative to sweaters. It's a real stunning fun piece.

Current Elliott Spring/Summer 2012

I have always been in love with Current Elliott jeans, I don't think there is a style or wash that I don't like. For me they are the epitome of vintage cuts interpreted in modern ways with the most comfortable fabrics and stunning washes. Their denim always look so cool. This Spring/Summer their style is more feminine and cute as candy as you can see from their lookbook below. I really really adore this collection and am thinking which pants I am going to invest in this season. My current favorites are the striped, polka dots and floral denims. I will definitely go for the stripes and dots. The flowers (patterns are big) need to be tried on as I don't know yet how they will fit me, as I am short and don't have long lean legs. But I will definitely try them on :-).

It is so so cold outside that I am wearing layer over layer to keep me warm when taking a walk. I am really freezing and wish that it will get warmer soon. This is what I am wearing beneath my down jacket today ...

Chanel April nail polish

I tried one of the new Chanel nail polishes from their Spring 'Harmonie de Printemps' collection - April - which is a hard to describe red/ little bit of purple/berry shade. To me the color resembles cranberry red the most but in some lightenings it also has some brown undertones.  It is therefore a very versatile polish, because it is not that bright but carries a lot of color nuances. It doesn't look like any of the existing Chanel reds as well.

Today I am wearing ... leopard jeans

I am jumping on the bandwagon - these Current Elliott leopard jeans have been spotted on so many celebs currently and were sold out in most online stores when they came out. I was very skeptical at the beginning if I could pull them off and because I normally don't wear animal prints. But these jeans' leopard print is not so 'in the face' and the grey color can easily be paired with blacks/whites but also look awesome with reds or other prints. The print is also very faded, which I also like. Fit is perfectly comfortable with a lot of stretch. I just wished I was a bit taller, so they would be 7/8 pants like they were meant to be :-). Anyways, I like them a lot and they will get a lot of wear.
